Review Games Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter A/B/G & N Networks [ Buy Xbox 360 ]

Simple and effective
360 is within the basement, router is on the 2nd floor. My main reason for upgrading was as a result of whereas watching streaming netflix movies, it might stop and downgrade the standard to stay up with the streaming movie. this does not happen on my laptop or once I moved the 360 one floor nearer to the router.

The package comes with an guide, installation cd and therefore the adapter. The CD sleeve tells you to place it in 1st before connecting the adapter. I place it into my 360 and it simply stared at me. most likely as a result of I had already downloaded the newest 360 update through Live. The directions weren't clear on this however I feel it's for those who have not updated their 360 and wish the WPA2 configuration put in to run wireless n. To clarify, to use wireless N you want to use WPA or WPA2. you can not use WEP encryption. If you are doing not modification it on your router configuration, this adapter can run in ABG solely. NOT N. you want to even have a wireless N compatible router to run at wireless n speeds (duh).

I already had the older MS ABG adapter wirelessly connected to my 360 and linked to my router, therefore I simply shut it down, unplugged the usb cable and plugged this one in instead. Rebooted and ran "test association" and it kept the recent configuration memory of the connection settings (MAC and ip addresses, passwords, WPA2, etc), except it connected full "4 bars" robust and stated the association sort was n rather than g. I checked this on the router yet through my laptop. association speeds had varied from twenty eight to fifty four mb/s however currently jumped to fifty two to 108 mb/s. Tested the unit totally with MW2. No hiccups in voice or association issues with server throughout multiplayer or spec ops. conjointly tested netflix streaming. No issues here either. Watched a full movie with no recalibration/interuption. This has never happened before even on an honest day.

The adapter comes with very little fold out feet on the lowest therefore you'll be able to stand it remotely if you purchase a usb extension cable. terribly handy feature if your 360 is buried in an entertainment rack.

Offnote complaint: Router is DLink DGL4500 GamerLounge ABGN, non-firmware updated (which has been known to cause problems). folks have complained that this router isn't simultaneous twin band. i used to be on xbox live enjoying a game in wireless n and using my iphone (wireless g only) to appear up information on information superhighway at identical time. i think the "simultaneous" grievance refers to wireless n devices not having the ability to ascertain wireless g devices on identical server. doesn't have an effect on my configuration.

Conclusion:
Does everybody want this? No. however if you do not need or cannot run cable through your house and need the fastest association speed potential, this can be an excellent hassle free answer. When selecting between the older version and therefore the newer one, the worth variations between the 2 MS equipped adapters is minimal enough that this could be your purchase alternative unless you NEVER decide to upgrade past g or your 360 is just about in line of web site of your router.

I don't work for MS, own a PS3, have red ringed my 360, and still suggest this product.

Pro's: speed, pain free installation, speed, remotely locatable, speed, 2 antennae, did I mention speed???
Con's: clamshell packing, price, imprecise installation directions, fragile antennae solely pivot left/right, not forward/back or rotateable, same with recent one. however since it are often located remotely, not extremely a problem.

I hope you enjoy and like the games, happy guessing !
